We are so proud of our school community!

    🏆 Ofsted Update

This week has been a week filled with excitement at Oakwood, as we welcomed ‘the King’s friends’ (Ofsted) into our school. This inspection acts as a significant milestone for our school community, marking the continuous journey of school improvement we are on to continue ‘being better everyday’ in line with our Oakwood vision.

First and foremost, I want to say how privileged I feel to lead our school and that it was a real pleasure showcasing all of our school’s strengths across the two day inspection period. Across the two days, I was delighted with how welcoming the children were and loved being able to share our calm, purposeful classrooms, filled with Oakwood opportunities and learning.

Most of all, this experience reminded me of what a remarkable school community we have. Oakwood would not be Oakwood without the support of our families, the enthusiasm of our children and the dedication of our staff.

We look forward to sharing our published report with families, as soon as it becomes available.

🎖️ Meet Our New Pupil Ambassadors

Mr Sharp and I had the exceptionally difficult task of interviewing this year's candidates for the roles of Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl at the end of last week. So much so, that we needed the weekend to deliberate our candidates and their outstanding candidacy speeches. Every candidate spoke passionately about how they would represent the school and support their fellow pupils, making the final decisions incredibly challenging.

We are delighted to announce our pupil leadership team for the year:

    ⭐ Head Boy: Caleb
    ⭐ Head Girl: Cadie
    ⭐ Deputy Head Boy: Jude
    ⭐ Deputy Head Girl: Evie

Supporting them as our Pupil Ambassadors are:

    ⭐ Elsie-Mai
    ⭐ Ronnie
    ⭐ Rayan
    ⭐ Harper
    ⭐ Ava

We are incredibly proud of all the children who applied and look forward to seeing our new ambassadors make a positive difference across the school. Congratulations to you all!

🎸 Times Tables Rock Stars Competition

A huge well done to all our Key Stage 2 pupils who took part in the recent Times Tables Rock Stars competition. The enthusiasm, determination and teamwork shown by our children were fantastic, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts, which led us to end up in Bronze medal position (3rd place) across our Trust.

Thank you to everyone who logged on, practised hard and represented Oakwood so brilliantly. Every answer counted and helped contribute towards our school's overall performance.

📚 Accelerated Reader Challenge: You're Up Next!

Following the success of our latest competition, it's now time for our Accelerated Reader Challenge!

We are encouraging every pupil in Years 3 to 6 to aim high with their reading over the next fortnight and complete at least one Accelerated Reader quiz.

Our goal is simple: 100% participation!

Not only is this a fantastic opportunity to celebrate reading, but the winning school across the Aurora Academies Trust will receive additional funding to spend on new library books and exciting reading resources for pupils to enjoy.

So, grab a book, get reading and let's show what Oakwood readers can achieve together! 📖✨

    🌞 Finally...

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. I hope all of our children, families and friends have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting week of learning.
