Our Year 3 children had a hands-on History lesson outside this week, learning all about different types of settlement!

    🍎 Celebrating Our Wonderful Teachers

As part of World Teachers’ Day this week, our pupils shared what they love most about the teachers here at Oakwood. Their thoughtful, heartfelt comments were a wonderful reminder of the special relationships that help make our school such a ready, respectful, safe place to learn.

If you haven't already had the opportunity to hear what our children had to say, please do take a look at our Facebook page where we've shared some of their lovely reflections: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19wGiAGZQq/

❤️ Wear Red Day - Showing Racism the Red Card

Next week, on Friday 16th October, we will be taking part in Wear Red Day to help show racism the red card.

Children across the school will participate in a range of lessons and activities focused on differences, diversity and inclusion, linked to this year's Black History Month theme of "Honouring Our Communities". As part of this learning, pupils will be exploring their family heritage and celebrating the rich backgrounds that make our community so special.

We would love families to support this learning by talking with your child about your family history. Sharing family trees, photographs, stories or any interesting information about your heritage will help children contribute to discussions and activities throughout the day.

    👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents’ Evenings Next Week

We are looking forward to welcoming families to our Parents’ Evenings on Monday and Wednesday next week

If you have not yet booked an appointment, please contact the school office as soon as possible and our team will be happy to arrange a slot for you.

These meetings are an important opportunity to discuss your child's progress, celebrate their successes and talk about next steps in their learning. If no appointment has been booked, teachers will endeavour to contact families directly, as it is important to us that every parent and carer is kept informed about how their child is getting on in school.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to another exciting week of learning and working together as a school community.

    Warmest wishes,

    Mrs Hannah Morgan
