Acting Head of School Update

It has been a real pleasure walking around the school this week and seeing the children so engaged with all aspects of the curriculum. I have seen a range of fantastic work, including computing work from Year 3, some great diary entries related to Ancient Egypt in year 4 and some great examples of maths work from our Upper Junior children.

We had a visit this week from Nick who oversees the Read Write Inc (phonics) programme and he was really impressed with our Reception and Key Stage 1 children and staff - everyone was so involved in their learning. Well  done to all!

It has also been great to see the outside PE lessons this week - with our Sportitude staff making good use of the lovely late summer weather. Please continue to ensure you send your child in their Oakwood PE kit on their given day.

Today we had our first Fire Drill, all children behaved brilliantly and were safely out into the playground in record timing!

Finally - do keep an eye on the forthcoming dates section of the bulletin - we have a 'Meet and Greet' next week where you can drop in to see your child's teacher between 15:30 -16:30 and have a discussion about how they have settled in to the new academic year. Also at the end of the term are the first parent consultation evenings. Details regarding booking for these will follow next week.

I would like to wish you all a lovely weekend (whether sunshine or thunderstorms!) and I look forward to seeing all the children on Monday for our celebration assembly.

Wish my best wishes

Mr Sharp

Please keep the reading records going - some children are clearly reading a huge amount at home and it makes a real difference!
