Acting Head of School Update
It has been brilliant to see all the children again after this half term break. The school has had a very positive feel and the children and staff have been working really hard!
We had a great celebration assembly to start the term off - and congratulations are due to Simmonds class (year 3) who won the term 1 attendance prize.
As ever, the best part of my job is seeing the fantastic work the children have been doing. Many children have shown me their work - I saw some great fractions work from some Year 6 pupils - and I have seen the children working hard in class. The children are starting a new geography unit this term and so have been busy with the initial pop quizzes to see what they know at the start. It is always very rewarding at the end of a unit when the children will redo the quiz and realise just how much they have learned!
I have also seen great geography work in Year 1 (where they are learning about the United Kingdom), super Maths in Year 2 and Skeletons work in Year 3 as part of their 'Animals and Humans' unit.
Next week we will be participating in Anti-Bullying week, which will include assemblies, lessons in class and the chance to wear odd socks on Tuesday to raise awareness. We will also be taking part in a times tables Maths challenge through our 'Times Tables Rockstars programme. The children are also starting to learn their songs for our various Christmas events that will be happening at the end of term - details to follow!
In the meantime, may I wish you all a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone again on Monday.
Best wishes
Mr Sharp
