Headteacher Update - Friday 21st June 2024
Welcome to this week’s Weekly Update!
A warm welcome to this week’s Weekly Update!
It has felt like Summer has finally found its way to Eastbourne this week, meaning we have been able to thoroughly enjoy some of our Term 6 events at Oakwood.
Our pupils in Reception visited the fantastic Eastbourne Miniature Railway. This term, they have been learning about ‘Transport’, and loved the opportunity to take a ride on a train…in miniature style, of course. The weather held out and the children loved the day, behaving superbly. We are very proud of them.
If you were able to join us for one, or both, of our Sports Days this year – ‘Thank you’! It was great to welcome you onto the field, as we hosted this year’s events. I am sure, like me, you will have been both proud and impressed with all of the children, their determination, enthusiasm, support of each other and, of course, their enjoyment of the day. ‘Well done’ to all of our pupils who took part and ‘Congratulations’ to our pupils in Year 6, as this was their last Sports Day. I am grateful to all of the staff for their support in organising the day and a particular shout-out to Mrs. Ellwood, who led this year’s event.
In today’s Celebration Assembly, we celebrated our Writers and Mathematicians of the Week. Our full list of this weeks ‘Stars of the Week’ can be found later on in the Bulletin – ‘Well done’ to all of this week’s certificate winners.
Our Term 6 Attendance Challenge continued this week. An impressive 96.3% has given Year 5 Rashford Class the 10 points this week and has made them joint leaders with Year 3 Hewett Class. Both classes have 16 points, with two classes close behind on 15 points. Please see the updated leaderboard on Page 2 of the Bulletin.
Next week, we will share our Class Organisation structure for the forthcoming school year, ahead of our Transition Morning, which takes place on Thursday 4th July.
We’ve had it in our Bulletin for a few weeks, but just a reminder that the school is Closed to pupils in Reception to Year 6 on Friday 28th June, as this is a staff training day. The Nursery will remain open.
Please take some time to read the Bulletin through.
I hope you have a great weekend!
