Headteacher Update: 26/09/25

Term 1 is truly underway with all of our pupils busy learning, 'being better every day' and having fun across the curriculum!

As we move through the term, our children have new opportunities each and every day to produce incredible learning. As a school, we are proud that we can offer a broad and balanced curriculum for children to explore and refine their talents in many different subject areas. Two highlights for me this week have both included 'collaboration' as a theme. In year six, we've been seeing excellent collaboration as pupils worked in groups to investigate what happens to electrical circuits when they change different components. And, across the whole school, each class has now proudly displayed their collaborative art canvass, based on their behaviour text this half term - they look stunning and we can't wait to showcase these on our upcoming parents' evenings.

Do note that our parents' evening booking system will be going live by the end of the week. We truly value our partnership with parents in supporting your child in the best way we can and would love to see as many of you in person, as possible. Do remember that if you're unable to make our two dates (Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th October), then please do contact the school office to arrange a telephone consultation at a convenient time with your child's class teacher instead!

Earlier in the week, we proudly invited headteachers and SENCos from across the Aurora Academies Trust to our school to look at 'Internal Alternative Provision'. In essence, this is how our school provides daily pastoral and intervention support to meet the arising needs of our pupils. This support is offered in short-term cycles, with the aim of developing the skills that children need to be successful in their classes and wider lives. I can proudly say, that our Hive provision, pastoral interventions and mental health practitioner support all contribute to how we, as a school, support our pupils and I've loved seeing how different groups of children access our designated space to do so. I know that Mrs Snelgrove and Mrs Taylor (who form our inclusion team) have worked exceptionally hard to ensure this environment is welcoming, nurturing and purposeful. I must also add a special shout out to cooking club (which focusses on developing pupils' social skills, speaking and listening and executive functioning) as they kindly delivered Mr Sharp, Mrs Wood and I our own apple crumbles this week - with apples scrumped from our very own Oakwood apple trees! It was absolutely delicious!

In more food-oriented news, in the coming week, please keep your eyes peeled for a quick parent survey about our breakfast clubs and after school clubs. We're determined to work with our families to ensure that our offer is what you both need and want. We'll also be sharing some exciting news about 'Waffle Wednesdays' throughout October, so do keep in the loop with this.

Last but not least, I can't wait to see our British Value of 'Democracy' in action across our classes this week, as prospective school council candidates start their campaigns! I look forward to sharing the results from our school council elections with you soon!

Warmest wishes,

Hannah Morgan
