Headteacher Update: 14/11/25

It's cool to be kind - we've got the power to change someone's day!

🌟 Headteacher’s Update 🌟

👣 Odd Socks Day – Anti-Bullying Week Kick-Off!
It was fantastic to see our children and staff sporting odd socks on Monday to launch Anti-Bullying Week. This simple act reminds us that it’s okay to be different and celebrates individuality across our school community.

💻 KS2 Anti-Bullying Workshops
Our KS2 classes joined a national online workshop and followed up with class-based activities to help pupils recognise and tackle bullying. These key messages aren’t just for this week—they’re vital all year round. As a school, we are committed to building an anti-bullying culture, which links closely to our behaviour curriculum. Through this, pupils learn strategies to manage conflict effectively with their peers.

We also continue to make clear distinctions between unkind behaviour and bullying, in line with the DfE definition:

Bullying is behaviour that is repeated, intended to hurt someone either physically or emotionally, and often involves an imbalance of power.

👏 Year 5 Leading the Way!
Year 5 embraced the theme wholeheartedly and delivered an inspiring “We’ve Got the Power!” shout-out to stamp out bullying. Their enthusiasm was contagious!

🗳 First School Council Meeting
To end the week, we held our first School Council meeting of the year, which was an absolute joy to host. We were joined by Mrs Attwood, our Trust Safeguarding Lead, who asked councillors about safety in school and how they can help others feel safe. The children gave thoughtful, articulate responses!

Their first gap task: explore the new coloured frames around school and report back on what each colour represents. Has your child noticed these yet?

🎄 Looking Ahead – Christmas Fayre!
Next Friday, we welcome parents to our Christmas Fayre, straight after school. This week, classes will be busy making decorations for their stalls. Your support at this event is invaluable—funds raised help us provide enrichment opportunities, resources, and experiences that make a real difference for our pupils.

We can’t wait to see you there!
