Breaking News at Oakwood: Police Visits, Stolen Diaries and Worms on the Loose! Read on to find out more!

    ๐Ÿ“ธ Picture Perfect Moments

A huge thank you to our whole-school community for pulling together at the very last minute for school photos last week. Your flexibility and support meant we were able to act quickly to ensure our families didn't miss out! We hope all parents have now received their prints and are enjoying our children's smiles, and strong sense of Oakwood belonging that shines through in every image. Our pupils looked fantastic in their uniforms – a real credit to our school values.

๐Ÿง  Learning Highlights Across the School

It’s been a joy to drop into lessons this week and witness the creativity, curiosity, and confidence of our pupils. Highlights this week included:

    • ๐Ÿ‘ฎ‍โ™‚๏ธ EYFS: A visit from the police sparked excitement and learning around people who help us.
    • ๐Ÿงธ Year 1: Pupils brought their story book to life with imaginative actions.
    • ๐Ÿค– Year 2: A very strong robot snapped a lighthouse in two – storytelling gasps truly in action!
    • ๐Ÿชฑ Year 3: Live worms wriggled their way into our science lesson this week, sparking awe and wonder.
    • โž• Years 4 & 5: Pupils tackled challenging column methods in maths with determination and pride.
    • ๐Ÿงช Year 6: Secret staff diary entries revealed that Mr Trigwell may have a hidden laboratory for experiments – who knew?

Our teachers continue to work tirelessly to make learning engaging and meaningful, and it was a pleasure to see just how much our pupils were enjoying their curriculum this week.

    ๐ŸŽซ Golden Ticket Friday Fun

Friday brought another successful Golden Ticket Reward Afternoon – a highlight for both myself and Mr Sharp. We love dedicating time to celebrating children who consistently model our school values and make Oakwood a better place for everyone.

๐Ÿ“‹ Behaviour Policy Updates Coming Soon

This week, our teaching team has been reviewing the Behaviour Policy, and we’ll be sharing a few key amendments with families soon. One exciting update includes enhanced individual recognition for positive behaviour through Class Dojo – more details to follow!

    ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ‘ง Parents’ Evening Next Week

We’re excited to welcome families to Parents’ Evening Consultations on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. These are valuable opportunities to celebrate progress and discuss next steps together.

๐Ÿงญ Who Are Our LAB Members?

From our recent parent survey, we know some families were unsure who our Local Advisory Board (LAB) members are. This group is made up of committed individuals from a range of backgrounds who meet regularly to help evaluate the school’s effectiveness and support our continuous improvement.

We’re currently recruiting new parent governors to join our LAB – if you’re interested, please contact Ruth Ali at ruth.ali@auroraacademies.org. You might also want to talk through what the role entails or simply provide a snippet of school feedback to our LAB members, attending parents' evenings to say hello too!

Thank you for your continued support and for being part of our vibrant Oakwood community.

    Warm regards,
    Mrs Hannah Morgan
