We've been incredibly lucky to host a ewe and her two adorable lambs at Oakwood this week — a huge thank you to farmer Rhiannon from Chyngton Farm and the South of England Agricultural Society for making this possible.
Every class, from Nursery to Year 6, visited our woolly guests, and the children were ewe-nited in excitement! The lambs were the baaa-st part of the week for many pupils… and staff too! We were all feeling utterly fleeced by how cute they were. ππ
On Friday, Oakwood was a burst of brilliant red for Red Nose Day!
It was wonderful to see so many uniform items accessorised in red — ribbons, socks, badges and more. One creative pupil even designed a brand-new red Oakwood jumper just for the occasion!
Assembly truly was a sea of colour and cheer. β€οΈ
Also on Friday, we completed our termly fire drill. Every class practiced leaving the building safely and calmly, following our school rules: Ready, Respectful and Safe.
In assembly this week, we focused on how we welcome visitors to our school. Pupils learned about the two types of lanyards:
We discussed how to show kindness and respect: holding doors, offering a friendly greeting, and politely checking whether someone knows where they’re going.
We’re excited to see our Ready, Respectful and Safe rules shining through in these everyday interactions!
Last half-term, Oakwood were crowned proud winners of the Aurora Term 3 TTRS Showdown! π
Other schools in the Trust are eager to take the title back — but we know how determined Oakwood pupils are!
This week, every child can earn unlimited points for our school (up to 1 hour of play per day).
π Log on at home and help us defend our champion status!
We are also taking part in a Trust-wide reading competition, celebrating pupils who complete Accelerated Reader quizzes on the books they finish. We’re already 80% of the way to our target — amazing progress!
Let’s make one final reading push this week to hit that magical 100%! πβ¨
Finally, we hope many of our families enjoyed a wonderful Eid this week.
As we approach the final stretch of term, we wish all families a positive and energetic leadβup to the break.
Warmest wishes,
Mrs Morgan
