Welcome to Oakwood Primary Academy

I am delighted to be able to welcome you to Oakwood Primary Academy and to our  website. We are very proud of our school and hope that you find the information here useful. I also encourage you to look at our Facebook page to see many of the exciting things that happen at school, every day.

Oakwood Primary Academy is a two-form entry primary school, situated in the heart of Willingdon Trees. We currently have just over 300 pupils on roll, from our onsite Nursery, Reception through to Year 6. We are very proud of our Foundation Village, hosting our Nursery and Reception pupils. 

Oakwood Primary Academy converted to Academy status in September 2012. We are one of seven schools across East Sussex, Brighton and Surrey, run by Aurora Academies Trust (AAT). 

We believe that every pupil should achieve their full potential and all staff are committed to ensuring this happens. Alongside a commitment to academic excellence, our Academy is underpinned by our four core values of ‘Knowledge, Equality, Determination and Achievement’. We consider these to be integral to our pupils’ success and well-being. These values help us to instil a love of learning and a commitment from all pupils, staff and visitors towards our ethos of 'Being Better Every Day'. 

Our links with parents, carers and wider family are very important to us - the school is at the heart of the community and we know that educating children is a joint responsibility and we value the support of all our families. Our curriculum is not only exciting and engaging for children but also provides many opportunities for parents to get involved in the learning that goes on every day at school and our curriculum model ensures that we have consistent, whole-school approaches to the teaching of Reading, Writing and Maths.

I couldn't be prouder to be leading the staff team here at Oakwood Primary Academy and know that through their continued commitment and dedication we can provide an engaging, inspiring and knowledge-rich curriculum that meets the needs of all of our pupils.
