Acting Head of School Update
It was great to see a number of parents getting to meet their child's new teacher at our 'Meet and Greet' earlier in the week. Parent's consultation evenings are also on their way, taking place in the last week of the term.
I am writing this update having just completed another walk around all parts of our school. There was a lovely sense of calmness and a focus on learning everywhere I went.
Our thriving Nursery were in the middle of their morning meetings in their various groups and the atmosphere was fantastic. Reception were all busy with a range of activities and Key Stage 1 were immersed in their reading. When I went to Key Stage 2, all classes were engrossed in their Maths lessons and the sense of purpose was evident in all classes. Well done everyone!
I have heard all about some fantastic homework projects that have been completed in Year 5, so I am looking forward to celebrating those later on!
Throughout the week, there have also been a range of different learning opportunities - including exploding volcanoes from the Year 5 Science lessons!
In our celebration assembly on Monday we will be introducing Black History Month. As part of this we are excited to announce that our Key Stage 2 children will participate in a 'live' assembly on Tuesday 15th October with many other schools across the country. On the same day we have organised an online parents webinar looking at Racism. Details on how to book for this will follow in due course. Equality is one of our four key values at Oakwood and these events will develop our children's understanding further.
I would like to wish you all a lovely weekend - let's hope all the rain has been used up and we get some much needed sunshine! I look forward to seeing all the children on Monday.
With my best wishes
Mr Sharp
