Head of School Update - Friday 10th December 2021

Welcome to this week’s Weekly Update!

Well done to all of the children who have been practicing so hard for this year’s Christmas performances. We are really looking forward to sharing our ‘virtual’ performances with you next week. Thank you for supporting with the learning of lines at home.

Today, we celebrated the first two ‘Word Millionaires’ of this school year. Through our Accelerated Reader programme, pupils can gain the words that they read in their books at school and add them to their individual account. When they successfully pass the quiz, that they take once they have finished their book, the number of words in the book is added.

Congratulations to Esther and Emilia in Year 6, who have both read more than 1,000,000 words and were awarded their certificates today – these will sit proudly in the school library. There are many more children who are close to joining the Millionaire’s Club. We look forward to finding out who they are in Term 3.

Our pupils in Year 1 Nightingale Class received a very special delivery this week – 32 Christmas tree sapling donations – enough for one each! The donations have been provided by Barratt David Wilson Homes, who are building new homes at its Meadowbourne Place development in Willingdon, as part of their festive campaign to think about sustainability. We have received other saplings which we intend to plant around the school site.

We had a fantastic Friday Celebration Assembly – ‘Well done’ to all of the children who came to assembly sensibly. As always, I was very proud to give out so many certificates for so many fantastic reasons.

Our ‘Stars of the Week’ are:
