Head of School Update - Friday 23rd April 2021
Welcome to this week's Weekly Update, the first of Term 5!
I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter break. It has been lovely to welcome all of the children back to school...and to a full term, too!
The children have been incredibly focused on their return to school, giving their very best to their learning. There has been some exceptional presentation and the children have been thinking carefully about the four school values of 'Knowledge, Equality, Determination and Achievement', and trying to demonstrate them all! I am always incredibly proud of the friendliness, politeness and manners that the children demonstrate around the school.
The children have been finding out more about this term's learning journeys. In Reception, children have been asking the question, 'Are carrots orange?'. To find out, the children have planted some carrot seeds, and seeds from other vegetables too, to answer the different questions they have about fruit and vegetables. In Year 3, the children have designed and made some Roman shields...and then tested them out in battle! In Year 1, the children have settled right back in to their routines - some super reading, phonics, sentence making and working together!
There are some pictures from across the school at the bottom of this update.

Please can I remind all parents and carers to wear a face-covering whilst on the school grounds, unless they are exempt from doing so. This is to support the school community, and by taking this precaution we are helping to provide a necessary layer of extra protection. Thank you for your co-operation.
Finally, after many years of service to Oakwood, Mrs Courtier retired this week. Mrs Courtier has been at the school since 1994, and has worked with so many children across the years, providing exemplary speech and language support. She has decided that now is the right time to enjoy her retirement and we wish her well for the future.
Have a great weekend!
