Headteacher Update - Friday 5th May 2023

Welcome to this week's Weekly Update!

We have had a slightly shorter week at Oakwood, but it hasn't stopped us from fitting so much in!

Today, we have been celebrating the upcoming Coronation for King Charles III. We held a special assembly, learning about King Charles and all the things he did for the 'first' time, and will do this weekend. We also discussed the things we do for the first time and how King Charles III might be feeling ahead of the most important day of his life.

This afternoon, we have held our own Coronation Parties in school, with games and ice cream, and a perfect rendition of the National Anthem. It was great to see the children enjoying the afternoon and getting ready for a significant event this weekend. Thank you to all the staff who planned a brilliant afternoon. It was well enjoyed by all of the pupils!

Thank you to Miss Ludford, who joined us from the Willingdon Trees Community Centre. We are proud of the work we do with our community groups, and grateful to Miss Ludford who helped our Reception and Year 1 pupils make some super Coronation badges!

We held a special 'Monarch of the Week' assembly, to reflect the King's Coronation, and we crowned our very special Kings and Queens. The winners are:
